The Great Commandment mandates us to love our neighbor as ourselves. Who is our neighbor? It is every person who is broken, weak, poor, wounded, and living in darkness. God calls us to serve them unselfishly and wholeheartedly. This is part of our integral call in serving God.

“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice & untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free & break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry & to provide the poor wanderer with shelter — when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?”
